Miscellaneous Pictures

Well, here are a few pictures that either didn't fit into the timeline flow of my photo album, or didn't have enough companions to comprise their own page. Not that they're any less important though. They're just miscellaneous pictures from the life of Weaver.

4 Kayaks
This summer I decided to take up kayaking more seriously. After kayaking in Alaska and a basic technique and rescue class in Tomales Bay, I decided to take a group of friends on an overnight trip at Lake Tahoe. One problem. How do we get four kayaks (including one double) to the put-in with one car? Well, let's put them all on the audi! That's Scott standing next to my car. For perspective, he is 6'5". After unloading the kayaks in Tahoe City, we paddled down to Kaspian state park (just north of Homewood) to camp. The next day we paddled down to D.L. Bliss where we pulled the kayaks out.
So, late on Wednesday night I get a call from Chris DeNamur asking if I wanted to play hookie and go skiing the next day. Well, it had been dumping all week and Thursday was the last day of the storm. Should be a good day! After finding a resort that wasn't on wind-hold, we started skiing in about 3 feet of fresh with more falling at about 2 inches per hour. Click the picture to watch a short video. I like to watch it in slow motion. February 2004

Core Shot Core Shot Zoom
After the first storm in a month I made it up to Kirkwood to see how much fell down. We traversed over to a powder stash where I found that the snow was a little misleading. I was taking some jump turns down a wide chute and landed on a rock. It was at the worst place to hit; right under my rear foot where the force was greatest. This shot went all the way down to the wood core of my Sumos. In the close up you can see that the edge is pulled away for the entire length of the picture. It actually extends beyond the picture. Luckily one of the guys I was with used to be a ski tech and did a great job patching it up for me.
Winter came early for the 2000/2001 ski season. Jason Jeter and I went up to Alpine Meadows to kick off the season on November 11th. After one full day of hard tele skiing, we decided to make Sunday just a half day. Saturday had incredible snow conditions, even a little powder. Sunday was a little more hard packed so we tried to get some good pictures in before the sun went down. Too bad this was the best we got. November 2000

Thunderstorm
Up at Randy's place, but now devoid of guests. I started to think I was to avoid the outdoors. A backpacking trip had been canceled in the morning and I had tried to do this short hike to Inspiration point twice now. This second thunderstorm caused me to go for a little drive down to Spicer Resevoir. The edge of the storm was at the lake, I was dry but lightning was all over the other side.
Well, I've taken quite a liking to fish. I acquired this fish tank from the Cole's when they moved to Chicago. There have been a variety of fish in this tank. My junior year we went for the large fish approach with two large oscars, a blue gill, and a few other guys. The oscars would chomp down about twenty goldfish in a matter of minutes. They didn't last long after I left for Texas. It ended up being the home for a catfish and temporarily for Sam the salmon, but he got eaten soon after. Now, I've started it up going for some color. There are three goraumi, three kenyi, two mollies, a lyre swordtail, and a crab. Of course, there are a couple minnows thanks to RT and Randy. Winter 2000

Sometime while I was living at the Stanford house in Davis, there was a lunar eclipse. We tried to get some people to run out to Lake Berryesa, but all the girls were at Bible study. So we made some hot chocolate and quesedillas for our own little roof party. Our roof had a pretty good view as the moon came out from the eclipse, plus we were able to surprise a few roommates.
After finals fall quarter of 1999, I decided to get a few friends together along with my bro and spend a couple days skiing at Lake Tahoe. We rented a cabin up at Granlibakken ski resort just outside of Tahoe City. We had a range of 4 to 9 people with us. There wasn't much snow, but we still had a great time. Here Chris, Lindsay, and Shane are standing in front of Lake Tahoe at Squaw Valley. December 1999
